Reading Interventions
As a school counselor, I have the joy of working with students through classroom guidance lessons, academic advisement, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students. As a school counselor these are a few reasons your child may come visit me:
As a Reading Interventionist, I use Orton-Gillingham's approach to assist students with their reading. This structured literacy approach introduces the idea of breaking reading and spelling down into smaller skills involving letters and sounds, and then building on these skills over time. It also pioneered the multi-sensory approach to teaching reading, which is a common component effective literacy programs.
