Covid 19 Update - 3/5/21
3/5/21
Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
As the landscape surrounding Covid-19 continues to change for the better (including our staff having the opportunity today to receive vaccinations) we at Fullerton Schools are looking at ways that we can safely make changes to our overall district plan as we follow the social distancing and masking protocols to avoid mass quarantines of our students.
This past Monday, the Fullerton Schools Covid-19 Committee (consisting of teacher reps, our nurse, our kitchen manager, the administrative team, and school board members Beth Sonderup and Brad Anderson) met to examine what changes to the district plan could be carefully considered and then proposed to the Fullerton Board of Education.
At the March Fullerton Board of Education meeting representatives of the Fullerton Schools Covid-19 Committee will present and propose the following changes:
- Eliminate temperature checks at school entrances and transportation
- Increase mask breaks for K-12 students following proper indoor and outdoor protocols
- Use a modified approach (similar to the JH and HS) to bring K-6 students back into the cafeteria for lunch
- Begin allowing some mask breaks at recess
As we enter into the final stretch of the school year – and with less than 50 days to go - it is critical for us to maintain student attendance and the continuity of learning as our students will soon participate in State Testing, take the ACT, and partake in upcoming school events and activities. We do intend to continually monitor and evaluate the ever-changing landscape while always keeping our focus on the goal to safely keep students and staff in school. We greatly appreciate and thank our students, staff and families for their tremendous efforts!
Be Safe, Be Strong, Be Warriors
