Board of Education Meeting Minutes for November 13, 2023
The Board of Education met on Monday, November 14, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Members present: Brian Aaberg, Brad Anderson, David Ciancio, Scott Russell and Beth Sonderup. Absent- Jennifer Wood.
Public notice of the meeting was published in the Nance County Journal on October 25, 2023.

Approved the agenda as presented.
Spotlight – Dr. Anderson and Mrs. Carlson shared a proposed special education programming expansion proposed by ESU7. The program is targeted to begin in 2024-25 and would service students of autism or related disabilities. Information was presented explaining how the program could service students in our area, along with projected costs.
It was moved by Aaberg and seconded by Ciancio to approve the replacement windows in the elementary by Bosak-Kaup Construction. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
It was moved by Russell and seconded by Aaberg to approve the 2022-2023 Audit of Financial Records from Pekny and Associates CPAs PC. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Russell to approve the purchase of a secondary server and supporting software for our student and staff data. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
It was moved by Aaberg and seconded by Anderson to approve to participate in 8-man football (D-2) for the next two-year cycle. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Russell to approve the dissolution of the 2-year baseball Coop agreement with Central City, Centura and Fullerton for the 2024 spring season. Aye-Aaberg, Anderson, Russell and Sonderup. Nay-Ciancio. Absent-Wood.
It was moved by Russell and seconded by Aaberg to enter into Executive Session for the purpose of staff negotiations at 6:21 p.m. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
It was moved by Aaberg and seconded by Ciancio to return to Regular Session at 6:36 p.m. Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
Approved the minutes from the October 9, 2023, regular board meeting.
Approved the Treasurer’s report as presented.
Approved the payment of bills as presented.
Adjourned the meeting at 6:54 p.m.
