Americanism Committee Public Meeting

A public meeting of the Fullerton School District No.1 Board of Education Americanism Committee will be held on December 11, 2023 at 5:15 p.m. in the media center. Presentations will be made by both the high school and elementary principals. An agenda is on file in the superintendent’s office.

1. Call to order of committee meeting at 5:15 by Chair Aaberg
2. In attendance… Aaberg, Wood, Ciancio

3. Recognize Open Meetings Act
   1. Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Information Presentation by the principals
      1. Mrs. Carlson shared the various social studies activities in grades K-6. She emphasized the one hour a week requirement of American history/government/patriotism that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, songs sung at the beginning of each music class, upper elementary social studies time for referencing historical figures and events, and the media specialist emphasizing books of historical figures and events.
      2. Mr. Burenheide shared that American history/gov’t/patriotism is done bu the Pledge of Allegiance each day, grade 8 Amercian history, Grade 10 American History and grade 12 American Government and portions of Economics.
