Board of Education Meeting Minutes for December 11, 2023
The Board of Education met on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Members present: Brian Aaberg, Brad Anderson, David Ciancio, Scott Russell, Beth Sonderup and Jennifer Wood.
Public notice of the meeting was published in the Nance County Journal on December 6, 2023.
Called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm.
Recognized Open Meetings Act
Recognized Visitors.
Approved the agenda as presented.
Spotlight – Mrs. Carlson presented the results from the 2022-23 district testing. She shared information regarding NSCAS scores for grades 3-6, 7-8 and ACT information from grade 11. She also shared overall state ratings for the elementary, junior high, high school and district.
Dr. Anderson gave a report on two upcoming floor projects and a boiler repair project. All three will take place over the semester break.
Board members who attended the NASB state conference in Omaha shared highlights from the various sessions they attended.
The board considered bids for a new bus, but tabled this decision until January.
It was moved by Russell and seconded by Wood to approve the Interlocal Agreement for the Special Education Building Project with ESU7. Aye-6, Nay-0.
It was moved by Wood and seconded by Ciancio to pass the resolution for the (ESU) Special Education expansion program. Aye-6, Nay-0.
It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Russell to approve the calendar change for the 2024 spring semester. Aye-6, Nay-0.
President Sonderup presented the superintendent’s evaluation. The results shared were a culmination of evaluations conducted by each of the six board members. Goals will be established for 2024.
Approved the minutes from the November 14, 2023, regular board meeting.
Approved the Treasurer’s report as presented.
Approved the payment of bills as presented.
Adjourned the meeting at 6:53 p.m.
