Board of Education Meeting Minutes for October 9, 2023
The Board of Education met on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 5:30 pm. Members present: Brian
Aaberg, Brad Anderson, David Ciancio, and Beth Sonderup. Absent-Scott Russell and Jennifer
Wood.
Called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm.

Approved the agenda as presented.
Dr. Anderson provided updates on buildings and grounds projects including two flooring projects
to be completed by January. A discussion was held regarding the lawn tractor trade in with AKRS.
It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Aaberg to approve the purchase of a lawn tractor from
AKRS equipment. Roll call vote: Aye-4, Nay-0, Absent-2.
The board discussed the upcoming NASB conference in Omaha this coming November.
Dr. Anderson shared information about the possible purchase of new mimioboards (electronic
white boards) for the elementary classrooms. Two grants will be able to support the purchase of 12
new boards. The teachers and students should get at least 10 years of use from these new boards. It
was moved by Aaberg and seconded by Ciancio to approve the purchase of MimioPro boards for
the elementary rooms using REAP and ESSERS funds. Roll call vote: Aye-4, Nay-0, Absent-2.
Dr. Anderson and Mrs. Carlson shared information regarding the updated version of the option
enrollment capacity resolution as required by the recent legislative action. It was moved by
Sonderup and seconded by Anderson to approve the update/changes to 5004 Resolution on
Capacity for Option Enrollment. Roll call vote: Aye-4, Nay-0, Absent-2.
Approved the minutes from the September 18, 2023, regular board meeting, budget hearing and
the special meeting.
Approved the Treasurer’s report as presented.
Approved the payment of bills as presented.
Adjourned the meeting at 6:08 pm.
